YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Emerson police investigating a complaint about suspicious cars on a residential street interrupted a pot packaging operation, seizing 2.2 pounds of marijuana, $13,900 in cash and a BMW.
This comes after police one town over, in Washington Township, arrested three members of the same family on marijuana dealing charges (SEE: Washington Township father, mother, son busted on pot selling charges).
Carlos Rocha, 23, of Saddle Brook and 22-year-old Daniel Humphreys, who was living at the Birch Street residence, were arrested just after 10:30 last night after authorities received the suspicious cars call, Police Chief Donald Rossi told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
“Officers were speaking to the homeowner when another officer standing nearby saw an open basement window,” Rossi said. “Inside he could see them packaging the marijuana in a basement kitchen.”
Both are charged with a pair of marijuana distribution counts, as well as for selling it within 1,000 feet of Memorial Elementary School on nearby Haines Street. They’re also charged with possessing drug paraphernalia.
Both remained held in the Bergen County Jail this morning — Rocha on $35,000 bail and Humphreys on $15,000 bail.
