UPDATE: A 34-year-old construction worker from South River was killed after being struck in the head by a backhoe bucket behind an Emerson rehab center yesterday afternoon.
The Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office was summoned to the Emerson Health and Rehabilitation Center and pronounced the victim dead at 4:15 p.m.
OSHA also responded.
The worker was part of a crew from a Middlesex County construction company building a new retaining wall on the south side of the parking lot and got too close to the machine, Detective Sgt. Michael McDermott told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
