Employees at the Mercedes-Benz dealership told police they were clearing snow off parked vehicles when two men — described only as dark-skinned — each got into one and sped off, exiting onto the southbound parkway, Deputy Police Chief Robert Guidetti told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Paramus officers found that one of the vehicles — a black 2015 E350 — crashed with a Jeep Liberty at mile marker 157.
The thief — who witnesses said was wearing a black ski mask and dark clothing — hopped out and ran towards Clifton, Guidetti said.
Clifton police assisted Paramus officers in an area search.
The second vehicle, a black 2015 S550, continued south on the GSP.
An investigation was continuing.
The cars were only the fourth and fifth swiped in Paramus this year, the deputy chief noted.
