YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: An 18-year-old Bergen Community College student from Bergenfield man was ordered held on $150,000 bail after being arrested earlier today on charges of raping a 16-year-old girl.
Authorities were contacted after the girl told her sister that she was “forcibly engaged in sexual activity” by Omar J. Marte and then went to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center for a sexual assault exam, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this afternoon.
A hospital nurse then called Molinelli’s Special Victims Unit, he said.
A unit detective, along with one from Bergenfield, went to the hospital and arranged an interview Tuesday at Molinelli’s office.
There, she “provided specific details regarding what had occurred,” the prosecutor said.
Marte was scheduled for arraignment next Wednesday on charges of sexual assault and child endangerment.
