YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A transformer explosion ignited a fire behind an industrial park in Wyckoff tonight that set parts of some trees ablaze, emergency workers said.
The transformer blew just off Braen Avenue, near the Hawthorne border, as dusk fell around 7:40 p.m.
Firefighters doused some flames but had to wait for PSE&G to cut the power before they could get water on the source. Meantime, they kept it from spreading.
A short time later, they had the fire under control — and, eventually, out.
Goffle Road and parts of the surrounding area remained without power past 9 p.m.
