EXCLUSIVE REPORT: A nurse from The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood was flown to Hackensack University Medical Center with serious injuries after a sedan driven by her husband was rear-ended on the northbound Garden State Parkway at the Woodcliff Lake-Hillsdale border by one driven by a 71-year-old New York City mant who apparently fell asleep, authorities confirmed.
New Jersey State Police charged Barry Weintraub, a former Bergen County resident from downtown Manhattan, with assault by auto and released him on a summons.
The 66-year-old victim, her 68-year-old husband and Weintraub, who walked with the assistance of a cane, sustained minor injuries in the crash, which occurred at milepost 168.5 just after 8:30 p.m., responders said.
The other two vehicles sustained minor damage, they said.
