A convicted sex offender from Indiana who authorities said drove to New Jersey to have sex with a 15-year-old Mahwah girl he met online intimidated her into not telling authorities, a grand jury indictment returned in Hackensack alleges.
Joshua Elkins, 32, had sex with the girl in Mahwah and in a Paramus hotel room, authorities said when detectives had him arrested in his Fort Wayne hometown in January 2013. He was extradited two months later and remained held on $200,000 bail Friday in the Bergen County Jail.
Elkins drove the 10 hours to New Jersey after meeting the girl in a Russian roulette-styled chat room that allows users to spin through various images of others, authorities said at the time. READ MORE….
