UPDATE: A driver whose van rear-ended a tractor-trailer at the George Washington Bridge’s upper level toll lanes this morning was pinned by his dashboard before being cut from the vehicle, authorities said.
The 2013 Ford Econoline rear-ended the Peterbilt rig at Toll Lane #12 just after 8 a.m., said Joseph Pentangelo of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The 32-year-old New York City driver was alert and conscious as several police units responded, Pentangelo said.
Port Authority firefighters then freed him.
A Fort Lee ambulance took him to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center with injuries that Pentangelo said weren’t life-threatening.
Traffic continued to move freely as police closed off three toll lanes.
